  1. Hey Jon,
I really connected with what you said about wanting to dig deeper and really learn how to use these tools. I think it's nice that we get to be hands-on and explore these tools. I can also see how it would be easy to get wrapped up in the process of putting projects like this together, so I’m trying to keep in mind that the goal is to make steady progress, especially with how fast these four weeks will go.

    1. Hey Jess,
I also have a similar goal of trying to pace myself with the content and be more proactive and not reactive this quarter.

  2. Jon,
I am also excited about the creative license this course gives. I think your approach of diving deep and exploring will serve you well. Exploration and curiosity is a great posture for learning. Sounds like the mindset behind scientific inquiry that you have become so familiar with!

What are some of the other tools that you like to use that you fear you will fall back on?

    1. Hi Isabelle,
I could totally see myself just continuing to use the Clever application as it has so many plug in tools and virtual science labs. I have this thought of "why recreate the wheel" when it comes to my website because Clever already does it so well. I suppose price and my districts willingness to pay for that service will be the ultimate deciding factor.

  3. Hi Jon,
I love the way your blog looks! I appreciate what you said about not being surface level with the tools we're working with- I think this will be key for me too If I want to utilize them in the future in a meaningful way.
Could you see yourself using a blog like this in your classroom/Do you think you'll create a classroom website?

    1. Hey Hannah,
Thank you for the kind words, I like the template too. I think I could totally see using a blog or communication tool in my class. I love to do science news with the students and I think a blog is the perfect format for that. I could maybe see myself using a website, but that would take a lot more planning. What about you?

  4. Hi Jon, I just want to say your blog page looks amazing! I love that you just dived right into the platform and enjoying it so far. i appreciate that you want to understand more about the program other than what is expected of us to do. I tend to get nervous with new tools but I am trying to push myself outside my comfort zone. What is another tool you would like to utilize in the your classroom?

    1. Hi Veronica,

Thank you! I really want to incorporate more virtual science labs in my class. The students seem to enjoy them, and there are so many good resources like the Gizmos application through Clever. Gizmos does an awesome job with digital engineering labs. What software do you like to use?

  5. Hello Jon!
I appreciate and admire how excited you are to dive into this class, I know who to go to if I start having issues figuring out how Slack works, you'll have it figured out in no time! Can I ask, did you have a good experience working on Microsoft Teams? In what ways have you found it similar to Slack or what has been the biggest difference?
I'm similar to you in that I don't usually do well with new technologies. This even goes into things like video games for me, I tend to try something fresh or new for a little bit, but end up going back to old systems and games after a short time. Maybe you and I can both change that habit with this class!

    1. Hey BJ,

I enjoyed using Microsoft Teams but felt it had more limitations. I do like the file sharing aspects of Teams. I think Slack so far in my limited use allows for much better communication channels. I love your positive attitude about us being able to change.
